Next-Generation Avionics for the F-35 Lightning II (Joint Strike Fighter)
The new, stealthy F-35 Lightning II aka Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) aircraft is designed to be a highly lethal, survivable weapon system that meets multiple military service performance requirements, while achieving strict affordability targets. As Infrastructure Subsystem IPT lead for the JSF Mission Systems, Harris is designing, developing, and producing next-generation avionics packaging, fiber-optic network solutions, and power supplies integral to advanced functionality and affordability for eleven major subsystems.
Leveraging common components across subsystems and aircraft variants is critical to enabling more efficient, higher-capacity and more affordable avionics capability than ever before. In addition to its role as Infrastructure Subsystem IPT lead, Harris provides the JSF with its software digital map and image georegistration software and also designs, develops, and manufactures the antenna electronics for the JSF Multi-function Advanced Data Link (MADL).
Harris also provides advanced avionics solutions as a preferred supplier for other major new development aircraft and upgrades such as the United States Air Force’s F-22 Raptor and the United States Navy’s F/A-18E/F Super Hornet.
