Hardware Engineering Support and Maintenance
Harris IT Services provides hardware engineering support for
customers and programs worldwide. During the engineering support phase of a program,
Harris IT Services is responsible for ensuring that the technical integrity and
objectives of a program are maintained within technical performance boundaries.
Cost and schedule constraints for all program and project activities also fall under
Harris IT Services responsibility. Harris IT Services' hardware engineering support
responsibilities include sharing in the successes and failures of the total system
development program. Harris IT Services hardware support engineers provide assistance
and support to system/subsystem development activities, installation/integration
activities, sustainment activities, and follow-on operations and maintenance activities.
Software Engineering Support and Maintenance
The Harris IT Services approach to software support and maintenance is simple and
effective because it is based on 15-years of experience gained in the successful
performance and completion of contracts for U.S. Government agencies and commercial
customers. We establish a complete, well-staffed Computer-Aided Software Engineering
(CASE) environment and a Program Tracking Report (PTR) system for our software engineering
mission.
The Harris IT Services team maintains extensive metrics on the software maintenance
process. These metrics are used to continuously improve our Commercial Off-The-Shelf
(COTS)-intensive maintenance processes. This process ensures that we provide the
best, fastest, and most cost-effective software maintenance support solutions in
industry. As government systems move toward COTS components, the need to rapidly
and accurately evaluate new and upgraded software becomes more critical. Harris
IT Services has proven processes and techniques for assessing, evaluating, and testing
hardware and software to assure minimum impact to operations. We appreciate the
importance of "try before you buy," and "test before you promote."
